Pat, Brian and Erin,

I've been thinking about all of you and want you to know how sad we are about the loss of your Dad. Your Dad was a fixture of our childhood and so many of the stories of our neighborhood -- the cookouts, the birthday/graduation/holiday celebrations, and all the time we spent playing at your house when we were little.

I remember him as being quick with a laugh during the light moments and also making remarks that would stop us in our tracks (mostly when we were getting into something that would undoubtedly cause bodily harm). I loved hearing Neil talk with other grownups in our circle, challenging them to think more broadly, more deeply about what was going on in the world at the time.

He was so proud of the family you built together, Pat, and I'm sure that only grew with the addition of grandchildren to the mix.

We will continue to keep all of you in thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
