I went to high school with Nick, I lived at his parents house for at least one summer while we painted houses together. Nick got the jobs and I made the sandwiches, we made a good team. We drank beer and watched the Mets most nights. I drove him out to Dayton for freshman year of college, stayed for a week on campus and drove back to Connecticut. We stayed in touch over the years, he visited my family in Washington DC for the 4th of July, and years later again in Boston, we went to Fenway Park. I talked to Nick throughout his illness, so impressed with his sense of humor and positive attitude, an amazing quality. I miss talking with Nick about the fun times in our youth at school and on ladders with paint brushes, living with his generous loving family and what it was like to have our own families. He was a terrific friend. Rich Beckmann
