Opal Sizemore (Sizemore)'s Obituary
Loving, determined, and loyal to family to a fault, Opal Sizemore, 92, of Dayton, passed away Saturday June 27, 2020 at Kettering Medical Center. She was born, one of eight children, on March 15, 1928 in Hyden, Kentucky to Jailey (Napier) and Sam Sizemore.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Hiram; son Tony; granddaughter Brandi Megan; brothers, Bud and Ben; sisters Marie and Bernice. Opal is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Whitesell (Joseph), JoAnn Crum (Mark), Sue Mullins; son Randy Sizemore (Connie); daughter, Robyn Barker (Don); nine grandchildren, Kristin (Nickolas), Jennifer (Jason), Amanda, Cody, Christopher, David (Samantha), Dustin, Logan (Cara), and Connor (Brooke); ten great-grandchildren, Sydney, Eileen, Gabrielle,Isabelle, Sophia, Anderson, Brynn, Brayden, Kyleigh, and Camden; three sisters, Leona Lewis, Thelma Young, and Rose Heimerl.
Opal was passionate about her family and anything that would bring the family together. She and her late husband Hiram took their kids on vacation every year. They vacationed in Canada, Grand Canyan, Gatlinburg, Norris Lake, Florida's Treasure Island, Old Faithful and the Outer Banks, just to name a few. Opal loved all the holidays because it meant the family would gather together to celebrate. Opal also enjoyed quilting, canning, gardening, and jig saw and word search puzzles.
Life celebration services will begin with a visitation on Wednesday July 1st, 2020 from 4-8 pm at the Church at Eastmont, 1380 Spaulding Rd., Dayton, and continues with a funeral service on Thursday at 10:30 am at the church. Pastor David Faile will be officiating. Burial will follow at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn.
