Paul D. Isaacs' Obituary
A hard working man full of compassion, Paul Donald Isaacs, age 88, of Xenia, passed away on Monday, November 29th, 2021 in Xenia.
He was born on March 10th, 1933 to Finley and Hazel (Botner) Isaacs. At the age of 9, a little girl named Doris, who eventually shared his last name, had a crush on him that lasted a lifetime. Throughout his time in high school, he played basketball and participated in FFA trips before graduating at only 16. He became employed at General Motors working as a Tool Room Attendant before joining the US Army. While stationed in Anchorage Alaska, he received an award for Corporal of the Year. Following his time in the Army, he married Doris June Fields, and continued his career with General Motors where he worked for 38 years as an Industrial Plumber. Even though he was working for GM full-time, he managed to run his own plumbing company for 13 years, and was even able to become a journeyman plumber.
Paul loved to tell stories to family and friends, and was the resident expert at rocking and holding babies. He loved UK Basketball and being outside. He enjoyed bluegrass music, deer hunting, Nascar, and gardening. He was fearless about working on things he knew nothing about, often saying, "If you can take it apart, then you can put it back together." It wasn't until he was married that Paul became a Christ-follower, but he remained faithful until Jesus took him. He lived his faith, as Jesus called us to, with compassion. He often said, "Don't wait until someone has drowned before you throw a lifeline." These qualities, and many more, will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him!
Paul is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris June Isaacs, son Paul Isaacs (Wende), William Isaacs (Susan), Barry Isaacs (Debbie), grandchildren Rebecca Isaacs, Anthony Isaacs (Kate), Joshua Isaacs, Brandon Isaacs, Kimberly Ako (Nick), Brianna Isaacs, Heather Isaacs, great-granddaughters Angelina Paul, Scarlett Paul, and another great-grandchild due in March, siblings Bernice Booth, Virginia Anthe (Bernie), Shirley Rucker (Bob), Finley Isaacs Jr. (Freda), Buddy Isaacs (Freddye), sister-in-law Barbara Thomas, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Vala Jean Kilburn, brother Bobbie Lee Isaacs, brother-in-law Logan Thomas, daughter-in-law Millie Isaacs, and great-grandson Jackson Owen Paul.
