Paul W. Sheidler

Paul Wayne Sheidler, a dear and close friend to many, age 72, of Bellbrook, passed away on Tuesday, October 26th, 2021. He was born June 16th, 1949 to Janet Sheidler (Pierce) and Wayne Sheidler. Paul was a proud alum of the second graduating class at Archbishop Alter High School (1967). He then went to the University of Dayton as a second-generation student, where he majored in Mechanical Engineering and completed his bachelor’s degree in 1971. He was a loyal employee at BFGoodrich in Troy, OH as a technical service field engineer from 1974 to 2008. During his career spanning over 37 years, he earned his PE license, was issued a patent, and traveled extensively worldwide for his role in product support of aircraft wheels & brakes. While visiting South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, he enjoyed experiencing the culture, food and collecting souvenirs (including an extensive matchbook collection). He also enjoyed taking the family on annual vacation trips across the US, with Hawaii being his personal favorite destination. Paul was incredibly faithful in his service and involvement at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Centerville. From Men’s Club, Men’s Choir, organizing the golf outing, assisting with the Parish Picnic and Fish Fry, and enjoying Euchre party nights, Paul was involved in many ways. He was a reliable man with a caring heart, an outstanding volunteer and servant leader. He also loved sporting activities as a participant and coach. In his youth he raced Autocross with his father. As a father himself, he coached t-ball and soccer for his children’s teams. After becoming an empty nester, he played golf and softball. Paul always had a competitive spirit. He also loved activities with his grandchildren, especially at the local Metroparks and Kings Island. He loved quality time with his grandchildren, as well as participating in various activities with several friends from all walks of life. Paul was helpful and obedient, and enjoyed supporting others in all capacities. He will be remembered by many as a likeable, humorous, and dependable guy, and will be missed dearly. Paul is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Sheidler, children Jeff Sheidler (Michele), Michael Sheidler, Amanda Sheidler, grandchildren Jacob Sheidler, Olivia Stewart, Gabriel Stewart, siblings Alan Sheidler (Leslie), Jayne Morris (Larry), Mark Sheidler (Chuck Sharp), step-mother Adele Gattes, as well as many other nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and mother-in-law Esther Wilkin. To help the family celebrate his life you are invited to attend a funeral mass held in his honor on Friday, November 5th, 2021 at 10:30am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (6245 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH 45459).
