Richard "Dick" M. Burton's Obituary
BURTON, Richard “Dick” M., age 83, of Bellbrook, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Dick spent more than 45 years in the paving business as co-owner of Centerville Paving, where he was especially proud to work side by side with his brothers serving the local community and beyond.
Known for his outgoing nature and big personality, Dick was gregarious, talkative, and always full of character. He had a mechanical knack and loved tinkering with engines of all kinds—though Mercury outboards were his favorite. A devoted Chevrolet fan, he had a special soft spot for Corvettes, both vintage and new. Above all, Dick will be remembered for his passion for boat racing, particularly outboard tunnel boats, where he competed at Eastwood Lake, throughout the Midwest, and beyond.
With his wife Ruth, Dick enjoyed yearly winter trips to Bradenton, Florida, where they soaked in the sunshine, fished, walked the beaches, and made memories at Disney World with their kids. At home, Dick was proud to host annual family picnics, filled with backyard games and the unmistakable aroma of his grill. Of all his many interests, he took the most pride in running a successful business with his brothers and in caring deeply for his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruth (2022); daughters Annette and Skye; parents Schuyler and Stella Burton; sister Helen Brown; and brothers Bob, Ronald, Donald, Dale, John, Terry, and Steve.
Dick is survived by his children: Joe (Ingrid) Burton, Richard “Rich” (Jennifer) Burton, Amber Ruth (Tom) Struckman, and Heather Ruth (John “Jay”) Bruns; nineteen grandchildren—Jessica, Julia, Joe, Michael, Stephen, Christina, Caroline, Wolf, Dakota, Rain, Bailey, Shai, Justin, Jason, Eleanor, Tev, Josie, Ambriana, and Sreenivas; and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from Noon to 2 PM on Tuesday, October 7, at Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook, with a life celebration service immediately following at 2 PM. A committal service and burial will take place at Bellbrook Cemetery.
