Robert Randall "Bob" Keegan Sr.'s Obituary
Keegan, Robert "Bob" Randall, age 83, of Miamisburg, passed away Tuesday, August 8th, 2023.
Bob was born to Eugene and Louise (Reid) Keegan in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 24, 1940. He had a bit of a hard luck childhood that provided countless stories of antics with kids that became friends for life. He knew and walked every inch of Cincinnati, and even tried driving at 8 years old ending in a wreck with his cute freckled face in the newspaper. He credited the Friars Club for giving him direction, his love of sports, and some of his greatest life memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, MaryAnn Mason, Daniel Keegan, Dennis Keegan, and Kathy Reid, each of whom he counted as a dear friend.
Bob joined the Navy as a young man, and felt incredibly blessed to be stationed in Pearl Harbor where he retrieved torpedoes. In September of 2021, he was able to go back to the base and boat house, and even ride on a retriever ship. It was a trip of a lifetime for a proud veteran.
After the service, he married his favorite dance partner, Elda Cooper, who preceded him in death in 1986. They started a family and he began his 50 year career in fine dining. His favorite years were the last 30 plus at The Precinct Restaurant where he honed his jokes, storytelling and pranks while providing entertaining service tableside. He loved people, and enjoyed golf, football (including fantasy), and traveling (especially out West).
Bob is survived by a large immediate family. His children Robert Keegan, Jr., Jeffrey Keegan, Donna Koch, and Kelly Keegan. He was "Papaw" to Farrah (Erik) Eaton, Brandon Couch, Whitney (Brian) Shockley, Wesley Couch, Robert Keegan III, Kyle Keegan, Tanner Keegan, Kelsey Keegan, Kaylynn (Joel) Keegan, Kennedy Keegan, Mackenzie (Travis) Williams, Addison (Zach) Roth, Brydon (Matt) Lustig, Cole Franks, Cooper Jackson.
He was also preceded in death by his infant son Dennis Keegan, daughter Rhonda Couch, grandson Codi Jackson, and son-in-law Brian Koch. Bob really enjoyed his great-grandkids in recent years and loved being called "Papaw Jellybean", a title earned by giving them many. His great-grandkids are Elin, Cam, and Nola Eaton; Aiden Couch; Cael, Isla, and Crew Shockley; Ezekiel, Roman, and Titan Keegan; Olivia and Oliver Barragan-Keegan; Rhett, Hayes and Tucker Williams; Lowen, Sutton, and Beckett Roth; Jaxon Lustig; Codi, Carter, Carson, and Canaan Jackson; and more on the way.
This big family wants to thank Sue Theuring, his life and travel partner of 36 years, for her love and care of our patriarch. You went above and beyond, and your care certainly gave us more years, memories, and stories.
To help the family celebrate his life, you are invited to share during his visitation at Conner & Koch Life Celebration Home (92 W. Franklin St. Bellbrook, Ohio 45305) on Monday, August 14th, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Life Celebration Services will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial with military honors to follow at Miami Cemetery in Waynesville, Ohio.
