Robert "Bob" William Rissmiller's Obituary
RISSMILLER, Robert “Bob” William, age 74, of Bellbrook, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 3, 2025, in Anna Maria Island, Florida.
Robert honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, earning the prestigious Purple Heart for exceptional bravery and selfless sacrifice in combat. Though humble about his service, he was always proud of his dedication to our nation.
Robert retired from NCR in 2016 after 49 years with the company.
Highly intelligent, friendly, outgoing, and caring, Robert was full of energy and loved life. Whenever he pursued new hobbies or interests, he went all in. His love for travel took him across Europe, Australia, and the United States, with Venice, Italy, one of his favorite destinations. He and his wife also enjoyed regular cruises, which became a cherished tradition. Later in life, he owned multiple Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and together, they explored the country on their Harleys. Their many trips included visits to their daughter in California, rides along the East Coast from Maine to Florida, and numerous cross-country adventures.
Robert had a deep appreciation for landscapes and nature, which led him to take up photography. His home became a gallery of the beautiful places he captured through his lens. With a love for the outdoors and an active lifestyle, Robert was a devoted cyclist throughout his life. He also admired aviation and loved visiting the Air Force Museum. His enthusiasm for automobiles spanned from classic cars to modern luxury vehicles—he rarely kept a car for more than a few years, always eager for his next new ride. As a child, he enjoyed racing slot cars, a passion he later shared with his grandson, passing down his love for speed and design.
Later in life, Robert channeled his love of engineering into collecting and refurbishing vinyl record players. He purchased broken models online, combined functional parts, and restored them to working condition. A lifelong music lover, his daughters fondly recalled how music was always playing in their home.
Robert had a tradition of hosting family gatherings for the Indianapolis 500, especially for relatives in Indiana who were blacked out from watching the race. He also enjoyed breaking the Thanksgiving turkey wishbone with his grandson and capturing the annual Christmas Eve family photo. Known for his sweet tooth, he had a particular love for chocolate cake. Amusingly, his family will never forget how he enjoyed placing Twizzlers on the car dashboard during road trips, letting the sun warm and soften them. He will also be remembered for his love of sharing a glass of wine in the evenings with his wife.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Laura Rissmiller, and his brother, David Rissmiller. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pamela; two loving daughters, Sarah Rissmiller (Scott Dandorf) and Jennifer (Steven) Northcutt; two grandsons, Aidan and Grayson “William”; one brother, Charles (Melissa) Rissmiller; and his niece, Lauren Durkee.
The family will receive friends from 4–6 PM on Wednesday, March 12, at Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook. A life celebration service will immediately follow at 6 PM, with military honors performed in his honor. Celebrant Brian Bennett will officiate. Condolences may be shared at www.connerandkoch.com.
