Rose K. Adams (Karn)

Adams, Rose K. 85, of Kettering, passed away peacefully Friday February 27th, 2015 at her home. She was born May 16, 1929 in Dayton to Ruth E. (Swank) and Charles F. Karn. Rose was the office manager for Culver Marine for over 30 years, retiring from St. Francis of Assisi after several years serving the church as the secretary. She also formerly worked at Hallmark in Sugarcreek Plaza. Rose was the first female Secretary of the Miami Valley Marine Trade Association where she was instrumental in organizing the Dayton Boat Shows and HydroGlobe Races. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish where she was very active in the Martha Ministries, Bereavement Committee, Keenagers, bowling league and various other ministries and social committees. Rose was also a member of the Eagles Lodge, Beavercreek, and its bowling league, and the VFW Post #9927 Womens Auxillary. Rose was a strong, confident and caring person who was passionate about serving and supporting others. She loved crocheting, shopping, roses, collecting angels. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas Sr., three brothers and one sister. Rose is survived by two sons Chuck (William) of New Richmond, Thomas Jr. (Kathy) of Bellbrook; three daughters Rose Ann Adkins of Kettering, Susie Furderer (Doug) of Rock Hill, SC; nine grandchildren Elizabeth, Jason, Kristen, Wyatt, Megan, James, Amber, and great grandchildren. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5-8 pm Wednesday March 4th at CONNER & KOCH Life Celebration Home, 92 W. Franklin St., Bellbrook. To honor Rose’s spirit of serving others, you are invited to bring one of her favorite snacks (Esther Price, Milky Ways, Little Debbie snacks, mini Oreos, cashews, Colby cheese w/Club crackers, Pepsi) to share with family and friends. St. Francis will lead a vigil service at 7:30 pm. Morning Prayers at CONNER & KOCH will be Thursday at 9:30 am prior to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville.
