Terry Leslie Johnson
age 73, of Bellbrook, died on May 28, 2014. Terry was born December 2, 1940 in Dayton. He graduated from Belmont High School in 1959 where he played football and basketball. He was a co-op student for Inland while he attended the University of Cincinnati completing his degree in Chemical Engineering in 1964. Later Terry finished his MBA at the University of Dayton in 1969 while working for Inland. He is preceded in death by his parents Willie and Hazel Johnson, wife Virginia Johnson and grandson Todd Johnson. Terry is survived by his wife Jeanne of Bellbrook, brother Jay Johnson (Beverly) of Dayton, children Chris Johnson (Peggy) of Indianapolis, Patrick Johnson (Heather) of Dayton, Lynzee Johnson of Dayton and Steven Johnson of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, grandchildren Brittany Johnson, Jordyn Johnson, Bradley Johnson, Levi Conklin, Ian Conklin, Levi Johnson, Breanna Blair, Daniel Johnson and Kaitlyn Johnson. Terry worked for Inland (later GM, Delphi) from 1959 until he retired in February 2001. He spent much of his career as a supervisor in Department 310 "on the hill". From 1985-89, he was part of a team that supervised the Ponte de Sor Plant in Portugal. His stay in Portugal highlighted his career and Terry returned often to visit friends there during his retirement. Terry's life reflected his parents in his love of family, community and sports. When his father was Athletic Director for Inland, young Terry was often found in the gym keeping score for the various leagues. Terry started the Wee Eagles Football program in Bellbrook. His garage was often full of football uniforms and pads for his teams. In retirement, he continued supporting young athletes in Bellbrook as site manager, football scoreboard operator and super fan. He tutored many athletes who needed his help to stay eligible. Terry also subbed in the Sugarcreek Schools. Visitation will be 4-7 pm Sunday June 1 at Patterson Park Church, 3655 East Patterson in Beavercreek (937-427-0130). Services will be Monday June 2 at 11:00 am at the church. Burial in Bellbrook Cemetery. Donations may be made in Terry's name to Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Education Fund, P.O. Box 5, Bellbrook, OH 45305.
