Thomas Marshall's Obituary
A quiet and generous soul, Thomas E. Marshall Sr., age 78, of Spring Valley, passed away Monday, August 17th, 2020 in Kettering.
Thomas was born on July 3rd, 1942 to William Marshall and Violet Marshall (Wright). He graduated from Northmont High School and later married the love of his life, Lois Elaine. Thomas became a plumber and pipe fitter, and worked for Honeywell for over 35 years.
Thomas absolutely loved his dogs. Over the years he and Lois had a Maltese named Missy, a German Shepherd named Ginger, a Miniature Collie named Buster, Papillons named Patches and Petey, a Miniature Dotson named Salley, a Shih Tzu Poodle names Suzie, and a Blue Chihuahua named Poochy. Thomas loved to shoot guns in any cowboy style competitions. He liked to cook and even enjoyed baking unique breads.
He loved to travel with the family, and together they took many trips all around the country, especially out west. He and Lois also went on many cruises and enjoyed being able to retire in Florida where they could go to flea markets, spend time on their pontoon, and visit Mount Dora. Thomas was definitely a jokester and had special nicknames he used to tease all the kids; he used to say, "I'm just fun-ing ya." His kids will always remember the way he adored their mom and always took great care of her.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of over 50 years, Lois Marshall, brother Bill Marshall, sister Betty Huggard, and great-grandchildren Lexi, Caris, and Cole.
He is survived by his children Jeff Whitehead (Tina), Lori Essex (Brian), Thomas E. Marshall Jr. (Lynne), and Joe Marshall (Maranda), grandchildren Autumn Wright (Jason), Jeffrey Whitehead (Erin), Tiffany Whitehead, Hayley Lewis (April), Zach Marshall (Lori), Andrew Murphy (Teresa), Ashley Marshall (Brandon), Harley Caudill (Kenny), Janna Pourbaix (Mike), Christi Blankenship, Justin Collini (Heather), and Nicole Collini, great-grandchildren Zavier, Mychal, Asia, Jasmine, Gavyn, Bryson, Cheyenne, Dakota, Whitley, Lukas, Dylan, Lily, Emmy, Emma, Stella, Joseph, Brandon, Mariela, Elena, Adan, Catie, Jaelyn, Jaxson, Ella, and Kayla, brother Jim Marshall (Linda), sister-in-law Sharon Marshall, brother-in-law George Huggard, and many beloved nieces and nephews and good friends.
Services will be held in memory of Thomas at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Second Chance Rescue (c/o 4403 St. Rt. 725, Suite F, Bellbrook, OH 45305), The Humane Society of Greene County (187 Bellbrook Ave., Xenia, OH 45385), or the animal rescue of your choice.
