Velma Alberta Roney (Lute)'s Obituary
Velma Roney
95, of Bellbrook, passed away Wed. Dec. 31, 2014 at her home. She was born August 22, 1919 in Ladd, Ohio to Amanda Florence (Locke) and Jason B. Lute. Velma married John M. Roney on Oct. 7, 1939. She retired from Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Schools after working 25+ years as a cafeteria cashier. Velma won blue ribbons for her cooking at the Greene County Fair and was honored as the 1989 Community Volunteer of the Year. She was active in various community activities and organizations since 1956 including her church, Parkview Nazarene, Bellbrook Lioness Club, Bellbrook Grange and the Bellcreek Senior Citizens. Velma enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting and flower arranging. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband John (2004), and three brothers Oliver, Hobert and Roger Lute. Velma is survived by her daughter Judith Sheldon (James) of Tipp City, son Michael Roney (Marcia) of Beavercreek, four grandchildren Janine Howard (Greg), John Sheldon (Shannon), Mindy Dannemiller (Jon), Meredith Roney, Mitchell Thomas, Tabitha, Bethany and Cory Sheldon, Ethan, Erin and Eli Dannemiller, one great-great-grandson Connor, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday January 5th from 4-8 pm at CONNER & KOCH Life Celebration Home, 92 West Franklin St., Bellbrook. A life celebration will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at CONNER & KOCH with Pastor Ron Justice officiating. Burial in Bellbrook Cemetery.
