Viki Nickerson Neus' Obituary
Viki Nickerson Neus, age 74, of Bellbrook, passed away on Thursday, July 28th, 2022 at her home surrounded by family. Viki was born on August 4th, 1947 to Karl and Claire (Daniel) Nickerson in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky.
Viki grew up on a beautiful, multigenerational farm in a Kentucky town of only 200 people. She learned the art of southern cooking, the joys of family life, and the blessings of a simple, slow pace in her early years. She modeled and implemented each of these things into her own family after meeting her husband, Robert "Bob" Neus, at the University of Kentucky, where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree. They married in 1970, and Viki fell naturally into the roles of wife, mother, and homemaker. She doted on her three daughters, attending every event and supporting them endlessly, while somehow managing to "always be right."
Viki was always at the center of family life. When grandkids came along, she continued to be the nucleus of the family. She meticulously planned and coordinated events and holidays that always included plenty of delicious food, with chicken and dumplings, mashed potatoes and rolls as the family favorites, and of course, always dessert. Viki sought out each and every opportunity to be with her kids and grandkids, including all sporting events, concerts, school activities, trips to Disneyworld, and their annual family beach vacations. With Bob, she was able to travel the world. They went across the United States, including Alaska, traveled to Canada and especially loved Banff, enjoyed cruises in the Caribbean, seeing Paris and Rome, visiting Normandy in France, traveling to Ireland and Scotland, and much more. She truly enjoyed each trip and embraced every chance to see the world and live life to the fullest.
Viki enjoyed reading novels, teaching preschool, and going to UK basketball games. She was deeply devoted to her faith, studying her Bible often, both on her own and with a close group of friends. Her faith brought her immeasurable peace as she faced her last days, knowing that she would soon be with her Savior. Viki will be remembered by many for her dedication to faith, family, and food, and will be missed most by her husband of 52 years, Bob Neus, daughters Holly (Phil) Papanek, Lori Neus (Jeff Finefrock), and Ty (Jason) Miller, grandchildren Daniel, Ryan, Adam, and Sam Papanek, and Maryn, Reese, and Laney Miller, sister Niki Gee, and nephews Todd (Amy) and Toby Hedges and their children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Claire Nickerson.
