William "Bill" W. Wiseman's Obituary
WISEMAN, William “Bill” W., age 91, of Sugarcreek Township and formerly of Centerville, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025.
Bill graduated from Northridge High School, class of ’51. In addition, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1956. He honorably served in the United States Army, completing two different tours of duty. He retired from Delco Products in 1992 after more than 30 years of service to the company. He was a member of the Bellbrook Presbyterian Church, Junior Achievement of Dayton, and the Bellbrook Historical Society. Always concerned for the welfare of others, Bill was very involved in the Beds for Babies ministry through his church.
Bill was quiet, honest, caring, patient, unassuming, and humble. He had a soft, gentle personality who didn’t need or require attention. His favorite hobby was playing golf, which he did in both men’s league and with his wife. In addition, he also enjoyed playing penny poker with the guys, participating in a couples bowling league, playing Bridge, and riding his motorcycle.
Among many hobbies and interests, his passion was traveling the world with his wife. Together, they’ve been to all seven continents. Countries included China, Russia, Antarctica, Japan, South Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, India, South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, most all of Europe, all 50 states, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Columbia, Panama Canal, Caribbean, Galapagos Islands, Australia. Their interest in other cultures led to them hosting foreign exchange students, Shunji from Japan and Wiebke from Germany.
In addition to the many international places they visited, Bill also enjoyed traveling out west via their motorhome, where many memories were created with family. He was a member of Scotty’s Camping Club, which also afforded Bill and his wife many opportunities to connect with others while camping. One of his most incredible travel memories was combining his love of golf and travel when he got to play St. Andrew’s in Scotland. His other adventures included camping in the Amazon headwaters, trekking the Himalayas, zip lining, riding a Segway, skydiving, riding in a hot air balloon, and flying airplanes.
Bill earned a Private Pilot’s license and sometimes flew down to Kentucky while his daughter was attending UK, ultimately visiting Keeneland to see the horses race. He was also privileged to fly down inside the Grand Canyon, back when that was possible, and fly above the fireworks at Disney World. Among many things, Bill will be remembered for his vast collection of canes. His favorite cane was obtained during a trip to Egypt, whereby he won a friendly competition to get one for the least amount of money, and it turned out to be a treasure of his.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter William and Jenny Wiseman, and one sister, Polly Lou Whitaker. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Alice; two children, Kimberly (Tobias) Boedeker and William W. (Michele) Wiseman II; five grandchildren, Brittany Boedeker, Joshua Wiseman, Jordan Boedeker, Johnathan Wiseman, and Kameron (Andrew) Mosher; five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Eleanor, Cole, Ofelia, and Willow; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10 AM to Noon on Monday, January 27, at the Bellbrook Presbyterian Church. A service celebration of Bill’s life will immediately follow the visitation on Monday at the church, with Pastor Diane Ziegler officiating. Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook will be officiating the service. If desired, contributions may be made to the Bellbrook Presbyterian Church. Condolences at www.connerandkoch.com.
