So many great memories of Bill Penewit! I remember as a young girl going to Penewit's Hardware quite often.!All the Penewits have been special people in Bellbrook!!My favorite memory of Bill was at the lions carnival on the blanket wheel!He was always so kind and always knew you when he saw you!! He will be sadly missed!!
In the early 90's our family moved to Bellbrook. At that time Bellbrook was growing, however, I always felt a warmth when driving through the town because Mr. Penewit would always wave to us from the hardware store! Bill made everyone feel a sense of belonging.
Later in life, while walking in the Bellbrook parade with Mike, I looked forward to Bill's announcing us. Again, he made everyone he came in contact with feel very special! The world is a better place because of Bill's life!
I first met Bill when I was assigned to do a newspaper story about Penewit Hardware store for the Dayton Daily News. He took the time to show me around, give me the history and share some good stories. I will always remember his smile. May peace be with Bill and his family.
Bill will be remembered as a friend to all whom he met with a smile for everyone. In 1968 when we first moved to Bellbrook and it was truly a bedroom community, a visit to the hardware store would always leave you with warm feelings for the people who ran it and especially Bill who helped with any problem you encountered. He was truly a gentleman and a gentle man. Rest in peace, my friend.
In memory of a dear friend and donor of many hours of community service. Bill will be remembered for being the announcer of the Sugar Maple Parade for years. Selling chances for the Lions Festival. Donating money for almost every activity in Bellbrook. He helped many people with great service in his store. He was always cheerful even when his day was a disaster. We will miss you greatly, Bill.
