Winifred Ray's Obituary
Ray, Winifred "Winnie" Irene, age 84, of Beavercreek, passed away Wednesday, June 28th, 2023. She was born September 4th, 1938 to Hazel (Crane) and Lawrence Gingell. She was employed as Executive Assistant for the Criminal Justice Academy, Inland, and Fyr Fyter Academy until her retirement. Winnie was proud of her work, loved shorthand, and she was known as a "typing wizard".
Winnie kept busy outside of work knitting many items including sweaters and blankets. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She also loved singing Christian music and with musical groups. She joined her church choir, enjoyed performing solos and older hymns like "The Old Rugged Cross", classical, and Broadway music. She was involved for many years with the Inland Children's Chorus. Winnie was known for spoiling her family with her homemade noodles at Thanksgiving and the big family get together and dinner.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernie Ray and her parents. Winnie is survived by step-children Faith Sexton, Richard Ray, and Bob (Janice) Ray; step grandchildren Misty (Tim) Savage, Leslie (Sam) Delong, and Jonah Ray; step great-grandchildren Cameron, Austin, and Job; sister Patricia E. (Roger) Stemen and brother Lewis L. Gingell as well as many nieces and nephews..
To help the family celebrate her life, you are invited to share during her visitation at East Dayton Christian Church (3415 Linden Ave Dayton, Ohio 45410) on Saturday, July 1st, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm . Her Life Celebration Service will begin at 1:00 pm. She will be buried at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens (8200 W. National Rd, New Carlisle, Ohio 45344 on July 6th, 2023 at 11:00am.
The family also wants to extend a very special thanks to her caregiver, Ricki Cross.
