Ruth Ann Simms (Middleton)

Ruth Ann Simms, age 75, of Spring Valley, passed away on Saturday, January 14th, 2023 in Dayton at Miami Valley Hospital South. She was born on May 8th, 1947 to Robert and Ruby (Chrisman) Middleton. Ruth graduated from Fairlawn High School where she was involved with various organizations including the Future Farmers of America and 4-H. She attended Riverside Hospital School of Nursing and spent 47 years working as a Nurse. She loved her job and was really proud to have won multiple awards for employee excellence. While she was very dedicated to her work as a nurse, the true love and passion of her life was being able to care for and support her kids, becoming involved with everything from music boosters to girl scouts, as well as joining the Blue Star Mothers organization. She was equally dedicated to her grandchildren, always going above and beyond at Christmas and for their birthdays, never failing to send a cake, even to the adults. Ruthie was a loyal Ohio State Football fan, a dog-lover, and most importantly, a Christian. She enjoyed gardening, feeding her hummingbirds, and being a "Dancing Queen." She was kind, compassionate, welcoming, and generous, but none of those qualities kept her from also being incredibly strong. She will truly be missed by many. Ruth Ann was a devoted daughter to the late Robert and Ruby Middleton, sister to Rowena Baker, beloved mother of Ben Simms and April Geneva Simms, mother-in-law to Shereen Simms and Nathan Lavertue, doting grandmother to Said, Benji, and Lux, loving caretaker to her spoiled dog, Lucy, and Ruthie to her many friends. To help the family celebrate her life, you are invited to a visitation held in her honor at Conner & Koch Life Celebration Home (92 W. Franklin St. Bellbrook, Ohio 45305) on Friday, January 20th, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Ruth's Life Celebration Memorial Service will start immediately following her visitation at 5:30 pm. She will be inurned during a private ceremony at Plattsville Cemetery in Shelby County, Ohio.
