Benny spent his life as a giver: Lion's Club, Boy Scouts of America, Veteran's organizations and, most importantly, his children. For the Boy Scouts, he was a committee member, an assistant Scoutmaster, wreath sale chairman (more than 20 years), Scoutmaster, cook, quartermaster, District Commissioner, Order of the Arrow Vigil member and Adviser, to name a few of the volunteer positions. Each Memorial Day, he saw to it that all veteran's graves in the immediate Bellbrook area were with BSA troop help, flag decorated, often paying for the flags from his own pocket. He would frequently revisit those graves throughout the year to insure that the flags were in good condition, replacing those that had been stolen or destroyed by the weather. BSA Troop 75 traditionally hiked for decades from the Presbyterian Church to the cemetery to complete that decoration; however, as his knees became uncooperative, he counted on his minivan as transportation. His commitment and dedication to those people and causes he loved were/are rarely matched. Benny was most proud of his children and his Viet Nam Marine service. Rest in peace, old friend, for your service and comradeship will be missed. There is a hole in the force.
