I am so sorry that these comments are so late. I knew David at Wright Pat, when we both served in the Air Force. He was one of the nicest person I have ever met. We would exchange Christmas letters. God bless you David.Jim Crase

David, Japanese ancestry, Buddhist (so he told me), California city-boy. and Duane, Norwegian ancestry, christian, North Dakota farm-boy, friends for 54 years. David and I met and roomed together in 1967 in a house in Huber Heights while we were both young Air Force officers assigned to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. We went separate ways on different Air Force assignments, then into civilian careers, but somehow kept connected over the years despite our extremely different backgrounds. We always enjoyed getting to see David when our travels brought us in contact with each other. We included David in our family as much as we could considering we lived distant from each other and David attended the weddings of both our daughters. I last got to visit David in July 2021. Our deepest condolences to David's family.Duane Landa
We knew Dave from the UD Life Long Learning program. We enjoyed his company as he took several classes as we did. Dave was friendly and enjoyed the classes. We are sorry to hear of his passing and will remember him with warm regards and memories of a strong and special person. Kate McKinney and Gary Ruff

Dave's passing caught me by surprise as I last saw him in late Nov and talked with him a couple weeks later. I worked with him at the base and skied with him on numerous occasions. The most enjoyable occasions were our trips to Mt. Hood, OR for summer ski-race training where we would practice on the mtn in the morning and partake in a variety of activities in the afternoon including golf, white water rafting, and hiking. He continued to enjoy life to the fullest even after his stroke and we continued going to lunch about every other month where we would reminisce about our past adventures and engage in numerous debates. I wish his sister and her family the very best and would like to contact her if she so desires. I dearly miss Dave.
I'm sorry to learn about Dave. He was a long-time member of the Dayton Ski Club and went along on many of the trips and enjoyed the sport tremendously.-Joe Ferrara
I have known Dave since I came to WPAFB in 1965. We roomed together for about two years and went on a trip to the Canadian Rockies in 1967. After I married I saw Dave over the years at the gym, played golf with him, and met for lunch on occasions. After his stroke we played golf a few times and I would see him at the gym. Dave never gave into his limitations. I saw him less than I would have liked after he moved into the nursing home because of covid and often tried to encourage him to think about moving closer to his family in the San Francisco area. It is hard to describe the relationship Dave and I had, we teased each other endlessly and the last time I saw him we would still talk about that trip to the Canadian Rockies. The courage and determination Dave showed after his stroke would be an inspiration to anyone and a role model for how to make the best of your life. I will miss him greatly.Dudley [email protected]
Dave was a friend for many years as we were both members of the Dayton Ski Club. We all traveled in a pack to many different ski areas. In the summer we spent fun times at different events. Winery's, camping , going to Duck Lake, octoberfests. Always a gentleman...we always teased him because he would never let us know his real age or if he was dating anyone. Never budged a bit. May he rest in peace he was one of the GOOD GUYS.Im so sorry for your loss. May your family find peace as you incorporated his loss into your lives. I remeber his stories about his trips home to see family.Theresa Terebinski
Starting when we were both young AF officers, our friendship has been lasting. What a remarkable and courageous soul, fascinating to the end. R.I.P. Dave. You have earned many times over.
