David Toshiaki Shida (Shida)'s Obituary
Shida, David Toshiaki, age 81, of Dayton, passed away Thursday, January 13th, 2022 in Dayton at Miller Farm Place. He was born September 13th, 1940 to Hiroko and Morio Shida. He is survived by Susie Sato (Dennis), sister; Ross Sato (Amy), nephew; Shelley Kennedy (Chris), niece, four grand nephews and two grand nieces, cousins and many close friends.
After graduating from San Jose State University, he served for 12 years as an officer in the US Air Force, then he worked as a civilian employee at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as an Engineer. He was a volunteer at the Dayton Art Institute and Schuster Performing Arts Center, and a member of both the Dayton and Kitty Hawk Ski Clubs.
Throughout his life, Dave had a passion for travel, sports, and outdoor activities. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, horseback riding, cycling, hiking, water skiing, and kayaking.
Dave took many trips to the San Francisco Bay Area to visit his family and friends. He especially enjoyed reuniting each year with his Boy Scout Troop 12 group, and attending his nieces and nephews various sports activities. Dave was a very independent and strong-willed person. He never let his disability define his life. He participated in many activities offered for disabled veterans.
The family will be holding private services at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made in memory of Dave Shida to Adaptive Sports Connection. Dave was very grateful for the volunteers at this organization which enabled him to participate in all of the activities he loved (https://adaptivesportsconnection.org/donate/ or 6000 Harriott Dr, Powell Ohio 43065).
