Evelyn Bennett Haley's Obituary
HALEY, Evelyn Bennett, age 88, of Sugarcreek Township and formerly of Kettering, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Kettering Medical Center.
Evelyn was born on August 11, 1936, in Cove, Ohio, in Jackson County, to Ralph and Ida Bennett. Evelyn graduated from Jackson High School, class of ’54. She married Carl Haley in 1957 and moved to the Dayton area. She retired after 20 years of service as an administrative assistant and typist for NCR. She loved to crochet and could create beautiful afghans, hats, and other intricate items. Ornery in nature, she was known for being a talker and social butterfly. She looked forward to getting together with family and friends. She had every album ever recorded by Elvis Presley and saw him in person numerous times. Evelyn was known for the love and pride she had for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along, she looked forward to them so much you would have to pry them out of her arms because she smothered them with her love. Among many things, she will be remembered for her contagious laugh and her hugs that would never let you go.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Haley, in 1995; parents, Ralph and Ida Bennett; two brothers, Edgar Bennett and George Bennett; niece, Jean Smith; and sister-in-law, Dottie Bennett. She is survived by her two sons, David (Jane) Haley and Tim (Linda) Haley; her two grandchildren, Aaron (Hilary) Haley and Alexandra (Brad) Haley Lefeld; two great-grandchildren, Madelyn Haley and Jameson Haley; sister-in-law, Marie Bennett; five nieces, Cindy Bennett Sturgill, Brenda Perkins, Lori Butler, Lisa Culbertson, and Cathy Bennett Ruiz; and one nephew, Michael Bennett.
The family will receive friends from 10 am to 12 pm on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook. A graveside service will immediately follow at Bellbrook Cemetery. Condolences may be made at www.connerandkoch.com.
