Joan Craft's Obituary
Joan Marie Craft, of Centerville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 19th, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton surrounded by her loving family.
Joan was born January 1st, 1930 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Fannie MacKay (Bowers) and James MacKay. She earned a Masters Degree from University of Dayton. She retired as a social worker from Miami Valley Hospital.
When she was young, she thought she was going to be a missionary because her parents were missionaries and she really loved helping people. Besides her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Joan enjoyed singing in the choir at Far Hills Baptist Church and later at Fairhaven Church.
Joan loved working in her flower beds and watching tennis on tv. She was also an avid college basketball fan (U.D. Flyers and O.S.U.) and college football fan (O.S.U.). Being involved, she always filled out a bracket during March Madness. She read all of her life until she couldn't see any more and then listened to audiobooks.
Joan was preceded in death by her son James "Jimmy" Craft and brother James "Jim' MacKay. Joan is survived by her children, John Craft (Kathy) of Kettering, Janet Jared (Steve) of North Carolina, Chuck Craft (Vannah) of Waynesville, Sue Davis (Kevin) of Springboro and Patty Satterfield (Grey) of New Jersey as well as 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
You are invited to Joan's life celebration services beginning with a visitation from 9:30-11:00am Saturday April 24th at Fairhaven Church, 637 E. Whipp Rd. Centerville, continuing with funeral services at 11:00am, and concluding with burial at David's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of Dayton (324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45420 https://www.hospiceofdayton.org/donations/) or Fairhaven Church (637 E. Whipp Rd. Centerville, Ohio 45459 https://fairhaven.church/give/). You are welcome to send a condolence, plant a tree and share a story about Joan at www.ConnerAndKoch.com by clicking on her name.
