Joseph Franklin "Joe" Rush's Obituary
Rush, Joseph “Joe,” was born on May 31, 1930 to Frank and Margaret (Allen) Rush in Washington Court House, Ohio. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Bellbrook High School where he taught History, Social Studies and Drivers Education. Joe had a wide variety of talents and interests. He enjoyed both playing and coaching sports and was Bellbrook High School’s first ever football coach. He also participated in the Senior Olympics on the softball and basketball teams. He kept his friends and family on their toes, involving himself in photography, being a pilot, a realtor, and even owning an ice cream truck.
Because of Joe’s connection to coaching and his love of sports please help us celebrate him by wearing attire that represents a sports team or even Bellbrook colors during his life celebration visitation on Wed. Jan 27th from 5-8 pm at CONNER & KOCH Life Celebration Home, 92 W. Franklin St., Bellbrook (937-848-6651). The Bereavement Committee of St. Francis of Assisi, of which Joe was a member, will have a vigil service at 7:30 pm. We will continue to celebrate Joe’s life with a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2824 Wilmington Pike, Centerville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 3797 Summit Glen Rd., Dayton, Oh 45449. You may send a condolence or share a memory with the family online at www.ConnerAndKoch.com by clicking on his name.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marilyn (Kohler) Rush, daughter Terry Greiner (John) of Chicago, daughter Cindy Wright (Robin) of Kettering, son Chris Rush (Judy) of Riverside, daughter Mary Worthington (Scott) of Waynesville, ten grandchildren Kendra, Shawn, Brian, Colin, Samara, Rachel, Tyler, Morgan, Shelby, and Lindsey, five great-grandchildren Tristyn, Maddox, Annabelle, Blake, and Logan, and two nephews Mark Rush (Lori) and Pat Rush (Mindy).
