Vastine Daniel "Dan" Robinette's Obituary
ROBINETTE, Vastine Daniel “Dan,” age 94, of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Dan honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Dayton Barber College and enjoyed cutting hair for many years. After 20 years of service, he retired from the Dayton Frigidaire division of General Motors.
He was a member of the Dayton Free Will Baptist Church for 25 years. Faith was a big part of his life. He and his wife were at church every Sunday without fail. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, especially in the church. He looked forward to playing with different people and family members. He even wrote some of his own music. He enjoyed several family reunions, where he was able to visit everyone from Virginia.
He was known for being a jokester and enjoyed having fun. Dan loved cars and was always buying new ones. He would purchase used vehicles and restore them with his son. He enjoyed puttering around his yard and would occasionally put in a garden. He was pretty good at fixing things around the house. Over the years, he had different collections; one of his collections was old pocket watches and other antique items. He enjoyed sitting on the patio this past summer, watching the birds and flowers. He was always very proud of his son. Among many things, he will be remembered for being honest, helping out anyone in need, and being a good man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Dona Robinette; two brothers, Kelly and Eunice Robinette; and eight sisters, Lona Robinette, Cora Robinette, Elma Robinette, Etta Osborne, Ora Johnson, Elizabeth Bledsoe, Hazel Livesay and Jeanette Bloomer. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Salona; one son, Robert Dewayne Robinette; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 1 PM on Tuesday, March 12, at Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook. Pastor Robert Legg will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to the Hospice of Dayton. Condolences are at www.connerandkoch.com.
